Elon Musk’s Twitter adds Shiba Inu for 360 million people – Will SHIB price react?

  • Searching for $SHIB on Twitter will directly bring the price chart for Shiba Inu and a link leading to Robinhood.
  • Twitter is reportedly working on a feature that allows users to purchase crypto coins, powered by the Stripe payments platform.

In an interesting development on Thursday, January 12, Elon Musk’s social media giant Twitter launched the price graph chart for Shiba Inu (SHIB). Before this, Twitter already offered price graph charts for other crypto assets including BTC, ETH, and Doge.

Thus, along with these three assets, the recently launched initiative will also allow Shiba Inu enthusiasts on Twitter to keep a track of the asset’s price. In order to use this service, users will need to search with the ticker symbol of the respective crypto with a $ sign before that. Thus, searching for $SHIB will display the price chart for Shiba Inu.

Along with the pricing graph of Shiba Inu, there’s a clickable link that takes users directly to Robinhood. As a result, crypto enthusiasts and new users can quickly create an account on Robinhood and purchase the digital currency.

Twitter introduced this service a few weeks back, at the end of last year on December 21. In its announcement, the microblogging website noted:

Follow us for the latest crypto news!

$Cashtags, now with data. When you Tweet the symbol of a major stock, ETF, or crypto currency with a $ in front of it (like $BTC), people on Twitter see a clickable link that takes them to search results. Starting today, these search results will include the pricing graphs for major symbols. In the coming weeks, we’ll refine the user experience and expand our coverage of symbols.

Twitter and Crypto

Twitter has been one of the go-to platforms for the crypto community to discuss new developments and price actions in the space. This was even before Elon Musk took over as the chairman of Twitter two months back.

However, Musk’s acquisition of Twitter has further fueled speculations that Twitter could get even more crypto-friendly in the times ahead. Elon Musk has been a vocal supporter of cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin and his favorite memecoin Dogecoin (DOGE).

With Elon Musk as the new Twitter boss, the crypto community is hopeful that social media platforms will integrate crypto payments in the future. The recent integration of the price chart for Shiba Inu will certainly lead to greater discussion for the memecoin. The $SHIB crypto is currently trading 3% up at a price of $0.000009468 with a market cap of $5.2 billion.

As per the latest development, Twitter is reportedly working on a new feature that would allow users to purchase crypto coins. The social media giant is reportedly working on a “coins” feature which will serve as a way to reward creators on the platform. Payments giant Stripe is likely to power up this coins feature.
