- IOTA and other blockchain technologies in the BC100+ initiative also seek to bring much-needed changes in energy infrastructure, the global food system.
- The BC100+ global initiative raises awareness about the potential of blockchain for sustainability and social impact.
It’s a big win for the stakeholders of the IOTA ecosystem as the IOTA Foundation has become part of the Blockchain for the UN charter values and the SDGs action plan 100+.
Under the leadership of H.E. Csaba Körösi, President of the 77th UN General Assembly, the BC100= global initiative seeks to convene the blockchain ecosystem to the broader efforts of UN Agencies and other global initiatives.

By getting a variety of organizations together across multiple sectors, the BC100+ global initiative raises awareness about the potential of blockchain for sustainability and social impact. It also explores the potential of blockchain technologies to address global issues of climate change, inequality, and poverty by rebuilding trust and empowering communities on the global level.
As we know, the IOTA Foundation has been working with global partners to develop technologies that can deliver sustainable and real-world impact. Being part of this BC100+ initiative shows that IOTA commands huge trust and transparency among big organizations.
Leveraging the power of IOTA and other blockchain technologies in the BC100+ initiative also seeks to bring much-needed changes in energy infrastructure, the global food system, as well as biodiversity protection. Working with IOTA and other partners, BC100+ will develop a comprehensive roadmap to address critical societal and sustainability challenges and further drive systematic transformation by using blockchain technology.
IOTA’s Contribution to Noble Initiatives
This is not the first time that IOTA has been part of a bigger global initiative. In the past, IOTA has partnered with multiple such initiatives across different societal issues.
For e.g. the bIOTAsphere projects from IOTA seeks to work with different partners across the globe towards a common goal of net-zero emissions. By leveraging blockchain technology, bIOTAsphere offers an entirely collaborative and non-profit collaborative wherein diverse communities can interact. Similarly, other participating players can leverage IOTA’s open, secure, public, and immutable protocol to build a sustainable infrastructure.

Using a proven value of the Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG), the bIOTAsphere also seeks to commercialize IOTA applications. The primary goal of bIOTAsphere is to “demonstrate innovation of existing business models through proof of concepts and work with industry leaders to take these innovations further”.
Furthermore, IOTA has also partnered with Gold Standard and ClimateCHECK to drive the digital transformation of the carbon market. The goal with this initiative is to improve accessibility, data quality, and resource mobilization of the carbon markets. These three players will work together in improving the supply side, the demand side, and the interoperability of the carbon market.
